In this his latest detective / mystery thriller David Baldacci is taking on a new role that of looking at how the U.S. intelligence agencies are fanatical in getting results to protect the people of the United States.
This latest Baldacci novel starts with a bang and keeps you engaged the whole way through. Sean King and Michele Maxwell team up again in this installment to help out King’s lawyer friend Ted Bergin defend an alleged serial killer. But their investigation is derailed before it begins-en route to their first meeting with Bergin, Sean and Michelle find him murdered. Who murdered Bergin? Determined to avenge his friend’s murder, Sean and Michele dig deep into the Edgar case, but the more they uncover, the more they learn that the inmate has incredibly powerful enemies at the top levels of government who want him dead without a trial.
Gripping, chilling, and full of surprises. The writing is excellent, characters good, and the plot is full of action. It’s his eager, expansive imagination that drives his books. It is great commercial fiction and an intense thriller that keeps you reading to find out the resolution to this conspiratorial thriller. I recommend it to any court room drama fan or any existing fan of Baldacci’s work.
